Overview
Requires an entity that issues a certificate of completion to file the certificate with the Registrar of Contractors (ROC).
History
The Arizona Department of Economic Security oversees the Arizona Apprenticeship Program which offers Registered Apprenticeships.
The Arizona Apprenticeship Advisory Committee coordinates, advices and recommends approval of procedures for the registration of apprenticeship programs and establishes quality thresholds of employers and employees in a sound, voluntary system of apprenticeship for men and women in skilled trades and occupations. Currently, there are over 40 approved apprenticeship programs available.
Provisions
1. Instructs certain entities that issues a person who completes an apprenticeship program in a construction trade a certificate of completion to file the certificate and any related updates to the certificate with the ROC on behalf of the person. (Sec. 1)
2. Requires the ROC to maintain the filed documents for ten years. (Sec. 1)
Senate Amendments
1. Removes the requirement for certain entities to file the certificate of completion and any related updates to the certificate with the ROC on behalf of a person who completes an apprenticeship program in a construction trade.
2. Allows the person who completes an apprenticeship program in a construction trade or the apprenticeship program sponsor to file the certificate of completion and any related updates to the certificate with the ROC.
